Bath Time and Essential Oils

Busy, don't have time - just going to jump in the shower?... Oh we get it, people use showers for speed, maybe to save water, but come on, we ask you, what's more magical than bath time? Taking time for yourself, to truly create your ultimate environment for relaxation. The mere thought of a bath often conjures up visions of pleasure and calm, plus there's nothing quite like it for wellness and good health. Soaking in warm water, perhaps with candlelight and soothing music creates a tranquil setting to unwind after a long day, add to that the benefits and aroma of essential oils, and you will be well on your way to renew mind, body and spirit

Essential oil baths are mostly about mood, so finding the right formula for your tub is as easy as deciding the vibe you're going for.

Tips and Tricks

Adding essential oils directly to the bath can sometimes cause skin irritation, and may not incorporate well into the water (due to that thing about oil and water not quite mixing!). Instead, add your chosen essential bath oil to bath salts, such as Dead Sea salt or Himalayan salt.

Bath Time Ideas

Making bath salts is incredibly easy!  Combine the following ingredients, trying to somewhat evenly distribute the essential oil.  Once mixed well, store the bath salts in a glass container, maybe a mason jar.... Hey, it makes a great gift idea as well.

  • 1 cup epsom salt

  • ¼ cup sea salt

  • ¼ cup baking soda

  • 8-10 drops of essential oil (see below for ideas)

Depending on the size of your tub, use about 1/4 to 1/2 cup of this salt blend per bath.

There are so many aromas for bathtime, ask our certifed aromatherpaist for tips, find the ones you love before you buy them. Eucalyptus oil has been used to relieve aches and pains in the joints and muscles.

You don’t want essential oils just to sit on top of the water; you want them dispersed throughout. The best way to do that is combine essential oils in a carrier oil first, like #coconut, #olive, #sunflower, or jojoba. "For a single bath, three to 12 drops of essential oil in a tablespoon (15 ml) of carrier oil is sufficient to create a very aromatic, therapeutic bath,"(#wildorange #lavender #geranium)..... Go ahead, #bathoils away.

Fill the air with music and your favorite aroma

Load up your bath with a few drops of lavender oil, grab a glass of wine, and listen to your favorite playlist.

Word of caution: Oils can turn your tub into a slip and slide. Be careful getting out, and be sure to clean the bath afterwards to prevent future falls. Baking soda and castile soap are great de-greasers.
