Native to India, Lime trees produce white flowers and citrus fruit and was first carried to the Mediterranean in the 19th Century. Today, Limes are grown throughout the West Indies, Central America and Italy. The entire peel is put through a steam distillation method to extract the essential oil.
Lime oil is very beneficial for revitalizing body and spirit, as well as for creating protection in one's space. The sharp, citrusy scent of lime oil is very beneficial in cutting through delusion and creating clarity - very helpful when you have an important decision to make.

HISTORY AND BENEFITS OF LIME
Lime trees originated in Asia, and are now cultivated in most warm countries. The tree was introduced to Europe by the Arabs, and then travelled to the Americas with settlers. Ship's crews often depended on limes to prevent scurvy, as they have significant quantities of Vitamin C. In modern times, lime oil is used to flavor ginger ale and sodas, and in perfumes.

Lime oil’s tonic effect promotes a youthful appearance, and it can be helpful in lightening dark skin spots. Cold pressed Lime Essential Oil has a max dilution of 0.7% due to phototoxicity concerns. Alternatively, Steam Distilled Lime is a great sun-safe alternative.
Medicinally:
Add a few drops of Lime essential oil to a steaming bowl of water and inhaling. In addition, a few drops to massage oil is a great way to use Lime oil to help support the immune system. All citrus oils are great at combating depression, and Lime is no exception.

Uses:

How to Use it: You can add about 2-3 drops of the oil onto your shampoo and massage it gently onto your hair and scalp area, then wash as per normal.
Use Lime on your tummy. Add to a 2 ounce squeeze bottle: 6 drops of Lime, 2 drops of Ginger, 8 drops of Peppermint, 8 drops of Sweet Orange, then fill with Sweet Almond oil. Shake to mix well. Apply a teaspoon over the abdomen and massage. (2% dilution)
Make a nice spray for the bathroom. In an 8 ounce sprayer add: 20 drops of Lime, 15 drops of Lemon, 25 drops of Tea Tree, and 16 drops of Peppermint, then fill with distilled water. Shake well before each use. Shelf life: 1 week
Lime essential oil as a natural home remedy for any wounds, cuts, insect bites or burns is great for speeding up recovery times and preventing harmful bacteria and infections from setting in, therefore preventing complications!
How to Use it: Dilute the oil with a carrier oil (such as coconut, jojoba or almond oil) in a 1:1 ratio and apply 2-3 drops of the diluted oil topically onto the affected area, while being careful to avoid open wounds. Alternatively, you can also add in a few drops to a cold compress and gently press it onto the affected part of the skin.
